Meet Our London Marathon Runners 2025
– All Winners in Our Eyes!
Starting marathon training is an incredible achievement, and we’re so proud of our team! Have you ever thought about running a marathon? It’s a true test of commitment, requiring dedication, resilience, and a strong mind to keep going.
Whether you’re cheering from the couch or supporting our runners on the sidelines, they deserve every ounce of encouragement. Go, team! We can’t wait to hear how their training progresses in the New Year. The 2025 TCS London Marathon is on the 27th April 2025.
In the meantime, let’s get to know these inspiring individuals.
Sue Galloway BEM
Sue is one of the NAYC Youth Development Co-ordinators and is running the marathon specifically to raise funds for Youth Development. She also volunteers and runs the Northampton Nene Angling Club, encouraging young people to get into fishing. She was awarded the BEM in the King’s Birthday Honours in 2023 for her voluntary youth work.
Elisabeth Gravestock
Elisabeth lives in Northampton and was looking to support a local charity. Elisabeth had never wanted to run the London marathon, as she normally only runs half marathons, but as she runs a free a ‘couch to 5k’ group in her village and 2 of the ladies have a place in the London Marathon for 2025 she was asked to train with them. Elisabeth enjoys a challenge and is looking forward to creating an awareness of NAYC/ACUK, raising funds for all 5 areas of the charity; King’s Park, Pioneer Centre, Whitemoor Lakes, Youth Development & Bursary Funding.
Sarah Taylor
Sarah is fundraising for Pioneer as she lives in Shropshire. Sarah has run the London Marathon before but is dusting off her trainers as she was supposed to run for us last year but a back injury prevented this, so running for NAYC/ACUK in 2025 instead!
Ruth Walker
Ruth’s son was involved with NAYC and more specifically the youth council last year. Ruth follows the work of NAYC including the leadership programme provided to young people and also the outreach work with disadvantaged young people. Ruth has lots of volunteering experience with young people having worked with young offenders. Ruth’s donations will go towards Bursary Funding, helping underprivileged children who wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford the cost of a school residential or sport session.
Terry Barry
Terry says ‘I have always wanted to run the London Marathon, to push and test myself whilst raising money for charity, this would give me an enormous sense of achievement! My wife works for NAYC/ACUK and I know they support groups of children / young adults and help them to move forward in what they want to be.’ Terry is raising money for King’s Park, Pioneer Centre, Whitemoor Lakes and the Bursary Fund.
