Our Fencing is Stronger than Ever!

We're Partners!

Did you know there was a big project being worked on behind the scenes here at Pioneer Centre? Well the project can finally be revealed now as IT’S OFFICIAL!

As of April 2025, NAYC and ACUK Ltd. are part of the British Fencing Licenced Partner Programme (LPP)!

Both the Pioneer Centre and Whitemoor Lakes (our sister centre) have been working with British Fencing for years now, bringing in coaches from their qualified team to train our instructors on the skills they will need to deliver quality, fun fencing sessions to our guests. This new partnership, however, is because of the hard work of our fantastic team member, Steph, who has been dedicating himself to their training and is now recognised as an official British Fencing Core Coach provider!

Steph’s perseverance is an inspiration to all our instructing team and truly shows what you can accomplish when you put your heart into it. We are so excited for Steph to begin training our team and helping us refine our own fencing skills.

What does the Core Coach course achieve?

  • Develop the skills to deliver introductory taster sessions and fencing-related games.

  • Promote physical literacy with an inclusive, accessible programme based on swordplay games and basic fencing technique.

  • Gain the competence to deliver the fundamentals of fencing (in foam, plastic or metal) and explore your coaching philosophy.

“We’re excited to work with British Fencing as our values of Honesty, Respect and Excellence are so aligned. We’ll be working with volunteers, instructors, teachers and pupils of all abilities across our centres to promote fencing to a new generation.”

NAYC & ACUK have previously been delivering fencing through BF’s Core Coach course, and I am delighted that we will be progressing this relationship into a stronger official partnership through the Licensed Partner Programme. This will enable Steph to train internal staff members, growing their qualified fencing workforce. I look forward to building a closer working relationship with the NAYC & ACUK team and am excited to see them expand swordplay opportunities across their centres.
